Join us for this amazing trip to Ireland and Scotland!  This is the best trip to see both of these amazing countries with Tracy Ann and Golden Tours!

Day One: Arrive in Dublin for a city tour seeing the Georgian Squares, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Phoenix Park, O’Connell Street, Grafton Street and Trinity College.  No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to the Guinness Brewery founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness.  You’ll enjoy a guided tour with a leisurely pint of Guinness in the 360-degree rooftop bar.  That afternoon we’ll check into our hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner. Day Two:  After breakfast, we will travel south to County Kildare to enjoy a guided tour of the Irish National Stud Farm.  On the grounds is a Japanese Garden.  From here we’ll go to Cashel touring the amazing Rock of Cashel.  In the afternoon we’ll spend some time in Kinsale, a historic fishing town, with cobblestone streets, shops & pubs.  This evening check into our hotel in Kinsale and enjoy dinner in our hotel. Day Three: Today we visit the Blarney Castle and Gardens.  You can kiss the Blarney Stone which will bestow the gift of eloquence on those who dare.  You’ll also have time to visit The Blarney Woollen Mills which carries a wide range of sweaters, tweeds, china & crystal.  Best shopping in Ireland.  Evening free to explore more of Kinsale. Day Four:  This morning we depart Kinsale and travel along the southern coastline to Skibbereen.  We will travel to Mizen Head – the most southerly point of Ireland where we will visit the Maritime Museum and Heritage Attraction.  You can also visit the Arched Bring to the lighthouse.  Then to Kenmare, an example of one of Ireland’s few planned towns.  We will continue to Killarney taking in a 20-mile stretch of the famous Ring of Kerry for a two night stay.  This evening we’ll enjoy dinner at the hotel. Day Five:  Today we will enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Dingle Peninsula, once cited as the most beautiful place on earth’ by the National Geographic.  We’ll stop at the Brian de Staic studio in Dingle which specializes in Celtic jewelry.  As we continue around Slea Head, there will be breathtaking view of the Atlantic coastline and see some beehive huts dating back over a thousand years. Then back to Killarney for a free night to enjoy a dinner at the pub and listen to some Irish music.  (B)

 

Day Six:  As we say goodbye to Killarney we will travel to Tralee.  Then continue to Tarbert to take the Shannon Ferry for a 25 minute sail across the Shannon Estuary to Killimer.  From there we will take the coast road to the majestic Cliffs of Moher and view the cliffs.  Then to Galway Bay to Galway City for an overnight stay and dinner in the hotel. Day Seven: This morning we depart northwards passing by the Knock Shrine then to Drumcliffe.  It’s best known as the final resting place of W.B. Yeats.  Then we visit Belleek, on the banks of the River Erne, most famous for the fine Parian China.  You’ll get a guided tour and enjoy shopping at the Belleek factory.  Tonight we stay in Donegal as we check into the luxurious Lough Eske Castle.  We will have dinner in the castle. Day Eight:  Today we travel to Derry City on the banks of the River Foyle.  It was founded in 546AD and still retains its 17C walls.  We will continue to Limavady where we begin the Antrim Coast Road Drive.  We will visit the Giant’s Causeway- a remarkable basaltic formation made of approximately 37,000 columns and ranked as one the natural wonders of the world.  Tonight we will stay in Belfast and enjoy dinner at the hotel.  (B, D)

 

Day Nine:  Today we visit Titanic Belfast, a new state of the art visitor center which take you through nine galleries, telling the story of the RMS Titanic.  Then we board a ferry for a 2 ½ hour sail across the North Atlantic to Cairnyan in Scotland.  On arriving in Scotland, we will travel to Alloway-the birthplace of Robert Burns, one of Scotland’s greatest poets.  After visiting the Burns Cottage we’ll continue to Glasgow City for an overnight stay and dinner at the hotel.  (B,D)

 

Day Ten:  This morning we’ll enjoy a panorama tour of Glasgow City, often described as Britain’s finest Victorian City.  Next we will travel along the banks of Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s most beautiful lakes, into the Scottish Highlands.  Surrounded by spectacular scenery we’ll continue through historic Glen Coe to Fort William.  We’ll wind through the foothills of Scotland’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis to Fort Augustus along the banks of Loch Ness to Drumnadrochit before arriving in Inverness – the capital of the highlands for an overnight stay.  We’ll enjoy dinner at the hotel. Day Eleven:  Today we depart to Culloden for our first stop.  The last major battle in Britain was fought here on April 16, 1746.  We’ll relive the drama with a visit to Culloden Visitor Centre.  The continue south through the scenic Grampian Mountains.  No visit to Scotland would be complete without a visit to a distillery and today it will be Blair Atholl Distillery founded in 1798.  Tonight we stay in picturesque town of Pitlochry the geographical center of Scotland for a two night stay into the luxurious Athol Palace Hotel.  We will have dinner in the hotel. Day Twelve:  This morning we bid farewell to Athol Palace and travel to Dundee before crossing the Tay Bridge to St. Andrew’s.  It’s famed for the home of golf and Scotland’s oldest university.  We will continue through the fishing villages of Fife before travelling over the Forth Road Bridge to the city of Edinburgh for a two night stay.  We will enjoy dinner at the hotel. Day Thirteen:  Today we will tour the historic Edinburgh City.  We travel down Princess Street and the historic Royal Mile before visiting the Palace of Holyrood House – the official Scottish residence of her Majesty the Queen.  Our visit will also include a tour of the majestic Edinburgh Castle.  This evening we will enjoy the Spirit of Scotland Show.  A traditional Scottish evening of song and dance accompanied by a great selection of quality Scottish food.  (B, D)

 

Day Fourteen:  Today we will say goodbye to our wonderful adventure and fly home from Edinburgh Airport. (B)
